Ikea was founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad (1926-2018) with the Swedish designer originally selling locally manufactured furniture from his warehouse. Kamprad's ethos was to provide stylish and accessible modern furniture items, eventually sparking the concept of Flat pack furniture that IKEA is known for today.
